I provide high-tech patent-related legal services for start-ups and emerging companies.  The goal is to construct, as cost-effectively as possible, a wall of protection for the crown jewels of the company, namely the innovative technology that fuels its success.  We want a patent portfolio that gives investors high confidence in exclusivity and limits competitors to either acquiring or steering clear.

My work is counseling clients on developing, protecting, and utilizing intellectual property rights, including U.S. and foreign patent procurement, patent portfolio management, and strategic counseling, and encompasses patent preparation and prosecution, patent opinions, due diligence investigations, audits, and pre-litigation patent analysis. In addition, I counsel companies on licensing and other transactions involving intellectual property assets and intellectual property dispute matters.

My technical background is computer science and computer engineering, so I gravitate to companies in Innovative Technology sectors, including software and computing, artificial intelligence and machine learning, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, fintech and business methods, blockchain, virtual reality and augmented reality, cleantech and energy tech, and electromechanical devices.
