Foley & Lardner LLP product Foley Ignite and Partner Kathleen “Kate” Wegrzyn have been announced as finalists in two categories for the 2023 Legalweek Leaders in Tech Law Awards, which honor individuals and organizations for their achievements in innovation in the past year in an array of categories.
Foley Ignite, the firm’s technology-enabled platform designed to support startups, founders, emerging growth companies, and the entire investor community fulfill their legal and information needs at all stages of the growth cycle, is a finalist for the “Enabling Start-Up Success” award.
This category honors firms who helped clients in the start-up, pre-public, and emerging company space navigate significant legal challenges to reach desired business outcomes. Foley Ignite, spearheaded by Louis Lehot, provides tools, resources, and insights – including a document generator that equips entrepreneurs with timely reference materials – to assist with the formation, growth, and expansion of emerging ventures.
Separately, Wegrzyn is a finalist for the “Innovators of the Year” award for her part in developing Foley Equipped, the firm’s document review system powered by customized artificial intelligence (AI) that streamlines the analysis, review, and revision of commercial contracts.
This category recognizes individual practitioners who have spearheaded initiatives to creatively solve legal problems. The AI utilized in Foley Equipped is trained to identify categories of interest within a contract document and identify high-risk clauses, highlighting provisions that may be outside of commercial norms, and flagging when terms are missing to provide a more rapid review process.
Winners will be announced during an awards ceremony on March 20 during the Legalweek conference in New York.
