Foley Advises Mobella in Sale of IP Behind Next‑Generation Mobility Aid Skywalker to CU Anschutz

Foley & Lardner LLP represented Thought Forward Design Inc. (Mobella) in the acquisition by the University of Colorado Anschutz of core intellectual property for Skywalker, Mobella’s next-generation walker designed to reimagine what a mobility aid can be for older adults.

Skywalker forms the basis for the development of Project Skywalker, which brings together CU Anschutz, Mobella, global design and innovation firm Pininfarina, and CU’s Center for Innovative Design & Engineering to modernize the senior mobility market through elevated design, improved usability, and a modern aesthetic that supports independence. The IP acquisition establishes the foundation for continued prototype development, user validation, and market readiness, creating a pathway toward future commercialization and broader access to thoughtfully designed mobility solutions for millions of older adults.

Foley’s health care transactions team was led by partner David Sanders.
