Foley Advises Square Robot in New Funding and Partnership

Foley & Lardner LLP served as legal advisor to Square Robot, Inc., the global leader in submersible robotic tank inspection, in its recent funding and collaboration with Marathon Petroleum Corp. (NYSE: MPC)

As part of the partnership, Marathon, a leading integrated downstream and midstream energy company operating the largest refining system in the United States, will participate in Square Robot’s Series B funding alongside other investors. Marathon will also collaborate with Square Robot to help shape the design and development of Square Robot’s next-generation robotic platform while deploying the company’s existing fleet to conduct critical tank inspections across its national network of terminals and refineries.

Square Robot, Inc. is a U.S.-based robotics technology company specializing in submersible robotic inspections of above-ground storage tanks. With a mission to keep tanks online, eliminate confined space entry, contain the release of emissions, and increase operational efficiency while delivering high-fidelity data, Square Robot deploys its robotic fleet and best-in-industry team to deliver storage tank inspections across the globe.

The Foley deal team was led by partner Von Bryant and included partner Spencer Moats.
