Foley & Lardner LLP partner Louis Lehot joined the Broadcast Retirement Network podcast to discuss shifting private equity market dynamics.
Lehot described 2025’s private equity trends, anticipated expectations for next year, the recent growth in fundraising interest, key sectors currently attracting investor attention, and regulatory considerations related to private markets in retirement plans.
Commenting on potential shifts in regulation and protocol around private markets and retirement plans, Lehot said it is still early days.
“So I think many new funds are in planning stages to take advantage of that deregulation, but much rulemaking needs to happen yet to allow those projects to come to market and crystallize,” he explained. “But I do think there’s a lot of optimism about the private equity industry and their ability to tap into new sources of capital from retail investors.”
The full episode, “Private Equity: The Appetite for Risk Seems to Be Returning,” is available on all major podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts and Spotify, and a recording can be viewed on YouTube, The Morning Pulse, Broadcast Retirement Network, and The Street.
