Foley & Lardner LLP recently represented Brazilian startup Z1 in their $10.3 million funding round co-led by the Homebrew, Parade Ventures, and Kindred Venture fund, along with investors such as Y Combinator, MAYA Capital, Clocktower, Gaingels, and new ones, such as Costanoa, Newtopia, SquareOne, and The Fund.
Z1 is a digital banking app for teenagers. By using the Z1 app and a prepaid card linked to their account, teenagers can begin their road to financial independence by learning to manage and spend their money, as well as having a place to receive money they earn through jobs and small businesses. With the new investment, Z1 intends to expand its target audience, reaching young people over the age of 18 who are making the transition to adulthood.
The Foley team was led by Partner André Thiollier and included Associate Ashley Lee.
