Stephen Moore

Born into a family of innovative entrepreneurs who built their own startups in IP, networking services, and tech support, I’ve always been drawn to the entrepreneurial spirit. What I find most rewarding about my work is the opportunity to help founders and investors turn their entrepreneurial dreams into reality, and a shared passion of finding innovative solutions for people. This connection stems from the belief that at the heart of every legal challenge is a human story waiting to be understood and resolved.

Before joining Foley, my career took root in public policy, where I spent eight years cultivating grassroots efforts, advising Governors, and teach elected officials public policy from the ground up. I quickly learned that the essence of startups and political campaigns are much the same: both are budget-conscious, goal-driven, and require nimble decision-making in resource-limited situations. This experience underscored my appreciation for the human side of legal work, where empathy and understanding are just as critical as legal expertise.

During law school, my path veered into the tech world when I started working with an AI startup. This was more than a job; it was a revelation that married my legal education with hands-on strategic advising. It deepened my passion for tech companies, involving me in advising on IP, litigation, and corporate governance. This early exposure to the startup ecosystem encouraged me to seek further opportunities post-graduation to expand my knowledge and skills in supporting emerging businesses, always with a focus on the people behind the innovations.

Now, as part of Foley’s AI and innovative tech sectors, I engage daily with clients and venture capitalists, focusing on today’s most groundbreaking companies. Foley’s ethos of efficiency and cost-effectiveness is something I carry into my practice, creating a supportive environment where I can guide business leaders through their most crucial decisions for scaling and sustaining growth. My role involves working with clients who are navigating the legal landscape for the first or hundredth time and helping them understand and preempt potential issues.

Outside of the legal arena, I love exploring the world through travels abroad, soaking in the natural beauty of Colorado, enjoying the many outdoor activities from rock climbing, hiking, and snowboard, and catching a comedy show or concert at Red Rocks.
