My core practice is serving as outside general counsel and transaction counsel throughout the entire lifecycle of a business. Initially, I help founders navigate the initial formation and structuring of their companies and the creation of incentive compensation plans. Then, I help them create their initial legal documents, such as privacy policies, terms and conditions, and other commercial agreements. Finally, I help them navigate the fundraising process through exit. Because a large part of my practice is representing buyers and sellers of later stage and more mature companies, all of my advice to emerging companies is with this end in mind.
I feel like I can add the most value to an emerging company by helping them avoid mistakes I have seen more mature clients make. Additionally, I view working with emerging growth companies as vicarious entrepreneurship, as I get to experience all of the excitements and setbacks alongside the entrepreneur. I enjoy being their trusted advisor, not just their attorney.
I believe Foley has unparalleled breadth of expertise to be a true one-stop shop for companies. In addition to deep technical expertise, we are able to provide practical advice that is more useful to clients than pure legal analysis or transactional blocking and tackling.
Outside the office, I am passionate about the outdoors and spend as much time outside as possible with my kids, whether it’s fishing, hunting, playing sports, or hiking.
