Foley & Lardner LLP partner Brian Wheeler described financial technology as a key area of demand in the PitchBook article, “GP consolidation, insurance deals drive rise in financial services M&A.”

Wheeler noted how banks are looking to update their business models. “You’re seeing the growth of things like Revolut and Robinhood and people getting into virtual banks,” he explained. “Consumers want virtual investment advisors, and that requires innovation not always found in the bigger legacy institutions.”

Wheeler also highlighted the influence on markets of an expected reduction in corporate taxes under the new administration, noting though that shifts in tariffs and immigration policies could create potential challenges for markets, including inflationary pressures and higher interest rates for private equity and venture capital.
