Laura Ganoza is a partner at Foley & Lardner in Miami, FL where she chairs the firm’s Miami Office Litigation Practice. Laura’s practice includes litigating a wide range of intellectual property matters including copyright, trademark and patent infringement, and trade secret misappropriation, as well as complex commercial litigation matters. Laura has found success combining her litigation and IP experience on behalf of her clients. In addition to enforcing and litigating her client’s valuable rights, Laura manages the trademark and copyright portfolios for a wide range of clients and advises clients about how to obtain, maintain and protect their intellectual property rights, both domestically and internationally.
Laura is also the Co-Chair of the firm’s Fashion Apparel & Beauty Industry Team and is a thought leader in this industry. Laura speaks frequently and authors articles on a variety of fashion related topics. Among a host of other publications, Laura is the author of #FTCcrackdown: What Brands Need to Know about Using Influencers to Advertise their Products, and is the author of “Fashion Branding: What’s in a Name,” published in Apparel magazine. Laura routinely presents seminars on fashion related topics, including the annual Fashion Law – Year in Review which takes place each year in January.
Laura is a founding and active member of the firm’s NFT Task Force. Her experience includes assisting clients in connection with IP matters and contractual matters related to NFTs. Her clients in this space include a DJ and recording artist who is also a crypto enthusiast and NFT veteran, as well as a music and digital-asset platform that allows listeners to earn royalties alongside artists.
Combining her experience in fashion and NFTs, on October 28, 2021, Laura organized a webinar entitled “Fashion’s Obsession with NFTs: Business Impact & Legal Analysis.” The webinar explored the use of NFTs in the fashion, apparel and beauty industries and the discussion included insights into the creation, minting, listing, control, and sale of fashion NFTs in the digital world.
