I am a trade and national security lawyer who provides CFIUS, trade compliance and export compliance advice to emerging growth companies seeking investment. Emerging growth technology companies are attracting investors from abroad, including sovereign wealth funds, at a time when the country’s national security threat landscape is rapidly evolving. By seeking advice about CFIUS and FIRRMA early, emerging growth companies can grow with confidence and certainty.

The United States is a nation of innovators. Innovation drives economic growth and makes our lives better. I enjoy helping innovators and founders access the capital they need in order to grow their businesses. I also enjoy learning from them about the business and legal trends they are seeing and how they think about some of their most challenging issues.

I joined Foley earlier this year because its lawyers are the best at what they do, and the institutional commitment to excellent client service permeates the culture. This commitment allows me to work collaboratively with my partners to provide the best legal advice to clients as efficiently as possible. Foley allows me to partner with clients to better understand and achieve their business objectives.

I represent emerging growth companies in the technology and commercial space industries. I also represent venture capital firms looking to invest in these industries. By understanding the legal and business issues from both sides of the transaction, I am better able to provide clear advice in an efficient manner. I also represent long-established U.S.-based manufacturing companies facing the same issues that emerging growth companies are facing, albeit from a completely different place in the company lifecycle.

I am passionate about innovation and economic growth. I recently served at the U.S. Department of Commerce where the mission is to advocate for policies that enable economic growth in the U.S., represent U.S. business internationally, and market the U.S. to foreign investors. I’m fortunate that my practice at Foley allows me to pursue my passion by helping the companies responsible for economic growth in the U.S.

I enjoy running and traveling. I also enjoy running while traveling—since 2019, I’ve run hundreds of miles across five continents, and I’m looking forward to getting back out there soon.
