I am a data privacy and cybersecurity attorney, advising clients ranging from multinational corporations to startups on all aspects of compliance with international, federal and state data privacy and security laws. In particular, I advise a broad array of clients in the telemedicine and digital health industry, most notably high-growth emerging companies and entrepreneurial technology groups.
My practice includes assisting covered entities and business associates in complying with HIPAA and advising organizations in the substance use disorder treatment space on compliance with federal laws protecting treatment records. I also help clients navigate compliance with the numerous other privacy laws that can impact a client’s business including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). I advise on the regulatory obligations under these laws, review, and negotiate contracts with customers and vendors on behalf of clients, assist in due diligence, guide clients through regulatory investigations, and assist in the aftermath of data events.
I like practicing at Foley because we have a deep bench of attorneys with expertise in essentially any area of the law where our clients could need our assistance. This allows us, as a team, to quickly and efficiently serve the needs of our clients. By the same token, I have a fascinating day-to-day practice providing privacy and cybersecurity advice to a wide array of clients.
Outside the office I spend my time with my husband, our young daughter, and our rambunctious English Springer Spaniel. We like to visit local breweries and restaurants, boat on the Madison lakes in the summer, and travel as much as possible. I also read a lot—sometimes getting through a book a week.
